Nike Innovation Center Website

Nike built a new innovation center, the LeBron James Innovation Center, and wanted to give the public, world-wide, access to tour the building virtually and experience the same type of innovation stories found on location.

The Directive

Build a storytelling website that prioritized the boundary-pushing potential of Nike’s new innovation center

My Role

Creative Director, Client Partner, Lead UX and Visual Designer, and Content Strategist. I coordinated the internal and client teams providing direction for visuals, content, and interaction.

Process

Due to the tight timeline of a month turn-around from concept to final design, we started out with an initial concept sprint. We explored four separate interactive concepts for discovering the building. From there we narrowed down our ideations and prototyped them in code to test our assumptions and inform the visual design which we were exploring in tandem.

Challenges

We had to create a virtual tour without showing the layout of the physical building, and create an immersive and engaging experience with assets that had already been pre-produced.

The Solution

We created an abstracted playground space to experience the innovations and stories in a nonlinear format. The interactions presented moments of surprise and delight to encourage play and exploration.

We also focused on large-scale immersive imagery and video. We presented visitors with a unique tour of the building by utilizing audio.

After exploring a few different iterations of visual designs inspired by the Nike Sports Research Lab branding we landed on a minimalist isometric grid that used different forms and color to accentuate content.
